Google Expands Text Ad Descriptions

Google eliminated right side ads from the desktop SERP in February as a way to create a greater unified Google experience across devices. Now text ads have undergone a significant change.

With new, expanded text ads, headlines are about to get much bigger – advertisers are able to have two 30-character headlines, up from a single headline of just 25 characters. In early testing, Google found this change dramatically increased CTR – by as much as 25 percent.

The expanded text helps leverage brand keywords, and serves Google to help score which ads tie to the closest match ads.   Updating your ads with the new added descriptions ultimately lower costs as well with higher relevancy scores.
